Social media is now a staple of our modern society, and therefore it is crucial for you to keep your social media profiles up to date and active so you can keep up with everybody else. Fortunately, there are a lot of small improvements you can make to your social media profiles right now, and it will only take a few minutes.

Whether you are running a social media account for your personal brand, a product, or just for fun, this article will give you pointers on how to easily improve your profile. All of these tips can be applied to your social media profile quickly, and have been tested and proven to boost the overall engagement your profile receives from other users.

If you want to improve your social media profile, whether it be Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and more, read on to learn how to apply these three tips to your social media profile.

  1. Size Your Images Correctly

Yeah, bet you haven’t thought of this one yet. When you post a picture of yourself on Facebook or Instagram, or you change your profile picture or banner, the site will automatically crop your image to fit into the set image size.

For example, a Facebook profile picture like this one is 170 pixels by 170 pixels, whereas a Twitter profile picture is 400 by 400. This means the quality of image needed for Facebook profiles is lower than Twitter (and a lot of other social media platforms, actually). While Facebook will size your image down, it is not using the best software available to do so.

By using a program like Adobe express, you can upload your profile picture and size it to be the exact dimensions needed for a Facebook or social media company of your choosing profile. To do this, head over to Adobe.com/express and click “Upload your photo” to get started.

Once you have uploaded the image of your choosing, Adobe will allow you to resize the image specifically for your social media platform on the site itself. You can choose to size your image for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, pinterest, LinkedIn, Snapchat, or you can choose a custom size of course.

Let’s say we wanted to resize a Facebook profile picture. Although Adobe does not have a profile picture option on their resizing application, you can simply enter in the size manually. Click the ‘custom’ drop down, and then enter in the size of the profile picture, which is 170 by 170.

If your image is not a square, you will want to crop it beforehand. This can also be done on Adobe, by clicking the ‘standard’ drop down button.

  1. Utilize S.M.A.R.T Goals

What are SMART goals? Well, they help you achieve specific goals that you have, and help you plan out a method to implement them.

The acronym SMART can be broken down into:

Specific – What do you want to accomplish? This has to be something specific, and what will you do to accomplish this?

Measurable – How will you track your progress to your goal? What will determine how far along you are to reaching your goal?

Achievable – Is this goal something that is worth doing, and is it possible with the resources and skills that you have?

Relevant – How does your goal benefit you? What is the result of you achieving this goal?

Time – When will you be able to accomplish this goal?

If you are able to answer these questions about improving your social media profile, it will be much easier to create a plan and facilitate some actual progress.

  1. Consistency

At the end of the day, you need to show that your profile is not going anywhere. Keep posting quality content, and try to engage with your friends and followers as much as you can so that you can get the most out of these social platforms.

Whether you are making a social media account for yourself or for business, it is crucial that you keep posting on a casual schedule so that people do not lose sight of your account, and so that you can constantly grow your followers and engagement levels.

We hope this article was able to help you improve your social media profile, as it can be a daunting task at first glance. However, with some patience and utilization of these tips, you can improve your profile in no time.
